She is a lover of animals, 70’s music, California wine country and all things vegan. She has traveled to more than 25 counties, but finds herself continually drawn back to her beloved Caribbean beaches and Colorado Mountains.
She is a gourmet baker (kind of true), a tree-hugging hippie (very true), and an over-achieving perfectionist (too true). She has seen a green flash, kissed a live shark, and stood atop an active volcano.

Wendy I just read your article in PBPost. I wondered if David Gilmour has talked to the director of Palm Beach Head Start/Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) Dr. Serrano, or director of Redlands Christian Migrant Assoc (RCMA)Head Start. There may be a way to access more money for the Erin H Gilmour Learning Center by becoming either a delegate or Childcare Provider (CCP) for Head Start. LSF already has a Westgate Head Start Center on Oswego Ave and a CCP on Westgate Ave in My First Steps.
The Gilmour center sounds fantastic! RCMA provides similar services to their families.
I recently retired from working for Head Start after 24 years. Having a health clinic and lots of space for conferences, training parents/staff, a library and more was something I dreamed would make the most impact on our families. Getting parents to follow up with physical exams, dental exams, vision/hearing exams is often a nightmare. Parents don’t always have time, money, transportation or insurance to follow up.

Thank you for your feedback. This is wonderful info! I will pass it along to the Gilmours as well as to Opportunity. Thank you for caring and for all that you have done to help children!

Wendy I read your article concerning Roger Colvard. I wish I had an extra room I could rent to him. I do have several small jobs that he possibly could do. I’d pay him so he could hopefully stay in the group home. He sounds like a trustworthy man unlike the last handyman I hired. Let me know how I can assist him. You can reach me at rwalerst@gmail.com. Thank you!

Thanks for reading and for reaching out.
There is a Palm Beach woman by the name of Sue Gibson who has offered to put people who may wish to help in touch with Mr. Colvard.
Sue’s number is 561-309-0112. Not sure where you live, but we are in a little bit of a weather situation here with Hurricane Dorian, so give her a few days to respond, if possible. Please let me know if you do not hear back from her.
Again, thank you for your kindness! 🙂

Wendy:
I just read your article in the Florida Times-Union on Darry Tunick who is suffering financially due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I would like to help him by sending him funds to help out on his rent and for food.
Would you please send me his mailing address to my email address.
Thanks,
Simon
